About Us
Stony Mountain Vineyards was started with a simple thought: Make great tasting wines and create wonderful experiances and memories for customers at our winery.
The Owners
Ken Furr - Ken Furr graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a Master's degree from North Carolina State University in Public Administration. Ken served
3 tours of duty in Vietnam as a Marine Corps Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Commander,
and Advisor with the Vietnamese Marine Corps. Ken retired from the Corps in 1995 after serving 30 years with rank of Colonel. Ken
is the winemaker and general manager of the vineyard and winery.
Marie Furr - Marie graduated from Gardner Web University and retired from federal civil service in 1998 after 30 years. Marie
manages the tasting room and events at the winery.
Devron Furr - Devron graduated in 2001 from Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education
and UNCC in 2008 with Masters Degree in School Administration. He currently teaches in Stanly County. I n 2004 he was called to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He served with the NC National Guard's 30th Brigade as an Infantry Platoon Leader
and returned home in 2005. He was called in 2008 to serve in operation Iraqi Freedom as the Adjutant for the 1-120th Combined Arms Battalion. Devron is the assistant winemaker and heads marketing and production.
